A Globally threatened species and a very beautiful bird. A Large yellowish orange beak and the lower mandible is much longer; slender and pointed-wings and tern-like pied plumage, blackish-brown above, contrasting with white underbody; white forehead, neck collar and wing bar, red legs, sexes alike....but female slightly smaller. It is common in North and central India, East to Assam and less common in South Maharashtra and North Andhra Pradesh. Size 40 CM.
